Our Passion for Childcare
Welcome to Teachers By The Brook, a home-based childcare service in Enfield that's all about giving your child the best possible start. We're conveniently located just a three-minute walk from Turkey Street train station and a short distance from Enfield Lock train station, making your commute into London a breeze.

Our setting is led by a qualified teacher with a wealth of experience. After years of teaching Food Technology and Business Studies in mainstream secondary schools, she retrained in both Montessori and Early Years education. We've been a trusted part of the community since September 2015, offering a high-quality, flexible, and reliable service. 
We use the app babysdays, to stay connected with parents. We like giving them a little window into their child's day, no matter where they are. They get to see all the special moments, from what their little one ate to the fun activities they did, all with photos and videos that truly bring the experience to life. 

At Teachers By The Brook, we believe in nurturing every child's potential. Our approach blends the best of two proven methods: the Montessori method and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). This means your child will be in a happy and encouraging space filled with stimulating resources, where they can learn through play and hands-on activities. We focus on developing crucial skills like problem-solving, decision-making, and practical life skills to help them flourish.

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum has seven key areas of learning: Communication & Language: Developing children's speaking, listening, and understanding. Physical Development: Building both large (running) and small (holding a pencil) motor skills. Personal, Social & Emotional Development: Nurturing self-confidence, managing emotions, and forming relationships. Literacy: Fostering a love of books and teaching foundational reading and writing skills. Mathematics: Introducing numbers, shapes, and measurement through play. Understanding the World: Expanding curiosity about people, communities, and the natural world. Expressive Arts & Design: Encouraging creativity through art, music, and imaginative play.

Montessori education focuses on key skill areas that help children learn and grow. Here’s a quick look at the core curriculum: Practical Life: This area teaches kids how to care for themselves and their environment. Activities like pouring water or buttoning a coat build concentration and coordination. Sensorial: Children use specialized materials to explore the world through their senses. This helps them understand and categorize things based on attributes like size, colour, and texture. Language: This goes beyond reading and writing. It starts with oral language and moves to phonics to help children learn to express themselves and communicate effectively. Mathematics: Using hands-on tools like the Golden Beads, children gain a tangible understanding of numbers and mathematical concepts before moving on to abstract ideas. Culture: This area introduces children to the world around them, covering geography, history, and science. It nurtures their natural curiosity about different places and things. Grace and Courtesy: This is about learning social skills. Children are taught how to be respectful, kind, and empathetic to others, helping them become thoughtful members of a community.
